The way FB ads work is based on 2 factors- one your demography and the other your surfing habit on FB that defines what ads are served to you. FB tracks its users surfing habit and basis that they form opinions of your likelihood of interest in a particular subject matter , product , domain etc. Thats the way the advertising alogrithim on FB works. So while you might be chatting and gossiping, advertisers are able to understand who you are ( demography) and your psychographic profile and therefore are able to show you products and services that fit your need best.
